Here Comes Summer

Well, it doesn't feel like summer if you consider the weather but summer is here. The plants are growing and my tomatoes, some of them, are as big as my hand! I can hardly wait for them to turn red!

I start teaching summer courses on Monday. I can hardly wait. These are five week courses for people who just want a summer travel experience and improve their English at the same time. Quite a few of them are French speaking people from Quebec. That will be different. And the course doesn't have such a serious academic focus as LEAP so that will be different, as well.

Unfortunatly, I won't be able to get them blogging because it will take too long to set up IT accounts for them. They'll have to "blog" in notebooks.

So to you LEAP students who are working so hard, keep up the good work. Don't lose heart. Persevere to the end. I will be so proud of you when you graduate from LEAP! Please make sure you invite me to your graduation ceremony.

Soccer from the Canadian Perspective

Hi, everybody. I wrote a great blog a few days ago and lost it because it wouldn’t publish to the blogspot. Aarrrrgggh! I’m so angry. But, I’ll try to recreate it here.

I was saying that my son plays soccer and this is his fifth year. Every year he and his teammates (the boys are sorted into new teams every year) get better and better. It’s fun to watch his games twice a week. His team this year is very good and they have only lost one game so far. We’ve also been lucky with the weather. While Tuesdays and Thursdays have had very bad weather this spring, Mondays and Wednesdays have been pretty good and so they only had to cancel one game because of lightening. (It’s dangerous to play on the fields when there is lightening. However, if it is just raining, they will still play. Next weekend is the tournament and I hope he and his team get the gold medal! Canada may not have a team in the World Cup but we have some hope for the future!

So, what do you think about Canada and China having a tournament on their own to find out which is the worst team? Would this be fun to watch?

June 2, 1959

There you go, everybody. I have revealed my birthday to all of you who wanted to know. Thanks to everybody who wished me a happy birthday. I don't perceive any risk in telling you!

I have had such a good time teaching the LEAP 4 classes! I think tomorrow will be my last day - this week - but I think I will still be back for Jeanie next week. Scott wasn't feeling well today but I hope he takes care of himself and gets better.

I'm glad about the rain - even though it is so inconvenient for walking back and forth from the Ed Tower to my parking lot. Still, my garden and lawn is getting watered and everything is green. So, it's not bad. Also we didn't have rain this week when my son was playing soccer or delivering his newspapers. I like it best when it rains at night.

I'm going to look forward to all your interesting blogs when I check them out next Monday!

I'm Blogging again

I think I've found another way to post a blog. The "Blog This" link on my homepage isn't working at all. I hope this works. I also hope lots of people visit my page and leave lots of comments. I think the whole blogging thing is fun!

So, Jay had a birthday! Congratulations! I had a birthday, too. I celebrated at home with my children. We had my favorite food. You will laugh when I tell you what it is... "Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs" Yes, it's true. However, we don't really cook it in the Chinese way. This is an old family recipe from my family. Who knows where the recipe came from - all my ancestors are from Great Britain! Anyway, I also made my birthday cake... chocolate cake with white butter icing and sugar sprinkles. We also had rice and fresh asparagus. After dinner we played cards and watched a movie on DVD. Well, now I am a year older but am I wiser? I suppose time will tell.

Tomorrow I'm going to help a friend do some painting in her house. Busy, busy.
