Shannon Speaks Out

I had an appointment on Friday after class so I was still downtown at 7 pm. As I walked back to my van, I was surprised at how Downtown Calgary changes as the sun goes down. All the serious people with brief cases and suits are gone. All the street people seem to come out from wherever they have been hiding. The bars open their windows and the music spills out onto the sidewalk.

That night it was quite warm but I was very hungry so I hurried past all the sights and sounds on 7th Avenue. How beautiful it was but how happy I was to leave it all behind and go home!

I wish Calgary's downtown was a bit livlier. Is that how you spell "livlier?" Anyway, I've always found it interesting that Calgarians flee the downtown at 5pm. It seems a bit asocial. Oh well, they do have nice houses to which to flee.
